Memphis Wins Women’s Soccer Championship with 1-0 Overtime Win over SMU

ORLANDO, Florida – No. 4 seed Memphis won its second straight American Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Championship with a 1-0 win in overtime over sixth-seeded SMU Sunday afternoon, November 6, at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex.

It was the Tigers’ fourth appearance in the Championship final out of five years and Memphis’ third title (2018, 2021). With the win, the Tigers (9-5-5) earn The American’s automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship. The selection show is Monday, November 7 at 4 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.

After a scoreless regulation, Shae Taylor scored the breakthrough for the Tigers in the 99th minute.
